Although she was released from jail on her own recognizance, a 67-year-old Mansfield woman faces a charge of involuntary manslaughter after a fatal accident on U.S. Highway 60 in Fordland. According to an accident scene investigation by the state highway patrol, she was driving a car east on the highway when she struck the rear of another vehicle. The impact forced the second vehicle off the road and overturned it.

On Aug. 22, a Missouri man was charged with driving while intoxicated and felony vehicular assault after a March motor vehicle accident. The 36-year-old reportedly caused the Smithville crash that injured two people when he had been drinking and trying to get to Warrensburg.
